1. Do not leave handbags in the car or valuables visible, even if you only leave it for a few minutes.

2. It is recommended to rent a car with full excess waiver. Some companies sell “no excess” insurance, but if no other vehicle is involved in an accident, they charge for the damage under a negligence clause. With us, this does not apply, and to date, none of our renters have been charged for damage.

3. Fuel prices in South Africa Regulated. It is possible not to refuel before returning, and the rental company will refuel for approximately 45 Rand + the cost of the fuel.

If you refuel before returning, do so at the airport.  The company will in any case fill up and even if only two liters are missing you will be charged.

4. There is no right of way when making right turns . Traffic must pass first.

5. In South Africa, they drive on the left side. A trick for entering the correct lane: “left close, right far” – when turning left, enter the closest lane, and when turning right, the farthest lane.

7. Don’t hug the left side (Yellow Line). Most damages to travelers’ vehicles are impacts to the left side mirror and scratches on the left bumper.

8. Toll gates do not always accept international credit cards. It is recommended to have some cash.

9. Almost all traveler speed reports are from 4 places: Knysna, Wilderness, Stellenbosch and Swellendam

1. It is recommended to book accommodation early , especially on safari.   Check with us about discounts .

2. Every year the cable car to Table Mountain in Cape Town closes at the end of July for maintenance.

3. It is recommended to book a whale watching cruise in advance. The season is between July and October and this is the most professional company .

4. Beware of ATM help and people who say you have to pay for parking at the ATM. Only withdraw money inside bank branches.

5. Book attractions in advance, especially horseback riding safaris, kayaking and paragliding.

6. The Wild Card for nature reserves and parks is sometimes worthwhile for families (especially with children over 12 years old).

7. In Cape Town we recommend a private tour of about 3-4 hours of the city center. 

8. Check in advance which national holidays are taking place during your visit.

9. From mid-December to mid-January relatively busy with reserves and attractions, especially in Cape Town and through the garden route.

In South Africa an additional driver is included in the car rental price.

In South Africa a young driver  Up to the age of 23 is charged an additional 173 rand per rental day (as of 2024).  If the driver has a license for less than 3 years , a new driver’s cost will be added, identical to the young driver’s cost.

For two-way rentals in South Africa, a trailer can be added  At a cost of 550 rand per day (as of 2024) but it is recommended to verify with us in advance that the vehicle has a tow hook. 

It is possible for the car to come to your hotel at an additional cost.

Want to take the car to neighboring countries? An entry fee to neighboring countries must be paid in advance, and a letter confirming the removal of the vehicle must be received.

For reports, the rental company charges 450 Rand for each report in addition to the cost of the report. (As of 2024)  

You must have a credit card with available credit in advance. We recommend having two credit cards just in case.  

An international driver’s license is necessary in some destinations, but in some countries, such as South Africa, any license is sufficient, as long as it is also in English. 

It is not necessary to clean the vehicle before returning it, but if the vehicle requires any unusual cleaning (such as upholstery), the rental company will charge you for the cleaning. However, it is advisable to leave it clean both out of courtesy and because when you go through the vehicle, you may find lost items.
