2. Young Driver Fee: Drivers under 23 years of age are charged 170 rand per rental day (as of 2024).

   • If the driver has held a license for less than three years, the same fee applies as a “new driver” charge.

3. Trailer Rentals: A trailer can be added for 450 rand per day (as of 2024). Please verify in advance that the vehicle has a tow hook (e.g., Group P vehicles).

4. Hotel Delivery: Vehicles can be delivered to your hotel for an additional fee.

5. Cross-Border Rentals:

   • To drive the car to neighboring countries, an entry fee must be paid in advance, and you’ll need a letter authorizing the removal of the vehicle.

     • Namibia ↔ Mozambique, Zimbabwe, or Zambia: N$4000

6. Traffic Violation Reports: The rental company charges 400 rand per report, in addition to the cost of the violation itself (as of 2024).

7. Credit Card Requirements: A credit card with sufficient available credit is required. It’s advisable to have two credit cards as a precaution.

8. Driver’s License:

   • An international driver’s license may be required in some destinations.
   • In countries like South Africa, an Israeli license is sufficient, provided it is also in English.

9. Fuel Policy:

   • In South Africa, there is no obligation to refuel before returning the vehicle. However, if you choose to fill up, do so at the airport.
   • The fuel filling fee is approximately NIS 10, with fuel prices being controlled and uniform.

10. Vehicle Cleaning:

    • Cleaning is not required before returning the vehicle.
    • Exceptional cleaning fees (e.g., upholstery) may apply if the car requires extensive cleaning.
    • It’s courteous to return the car clean and check for any lost belongings.

2. Choose Full Coverage Insurance: Rent a car with full participation cancellation. Some companies offer “non-participation” insurance but may charge for damages under the negligence clause if no other vehicle is involved. With us, this does not apply, and none of our tenants have ever been charged for damage.

3. Fuel Policies: Fuel prices are regulated. Many drivers prefer not to refuel before returning the car. Rental companies typically refill for about 45 rand + the cost of fuel. If you refuel before returning, do so at the airport; even a two-liter shortfall could result in a charge.

4. Right of Way: Right turns do not have the right of way unless there is a traffic light with an arrow. Allow traffic to pass before proceeding.

5. Driving on the Left: In Namibia, drive on the left-hand side of the road. Remember: “Left close, right far”—turn left into the near lane and right into the far lane.

6. Stay Cautious on the Left: Avoid driving too close to the left side. Most vehicle damage occurs to the left mirror or bumper.

7. Toll Gates: Toll gates may not accept international credit cards, so carry cash (South African rand is often accepted).

8. Check Tire Pressure: Before your trip, check the vehicle’s tire pressure at a gas station. Consult locals for recommendations, as the ideal pressure (often around 150) may vary depending on the road conditions.
