1. Do not leave handbags in the car or valuables exposed, even if you only go for a few minutes.

2. It is recommended to rent a car with full participation cancellation. Some companies sell “non-participation” insurance, but if there is no other vehicle involved in the accident, they charge for the damage under the negligence clause. Through us this does not exist, and to this day none of our tenants has been charged for damage.

3. If you refueled before returning, do so at the airport.  The company will in any case fill up and even if only two liters are missing you will be charged.

4. In Mauritius you drive on the left. Trick to get into the right lane : “left close right far” – when turning left you enter the near lane and right far.

5. Most of the damage to the vehicles of travelers in Mauritius is damage to the left mirror and scratches to the left bumper.

Should I rent a car in Mauritius or take a driver? Many travelers prefer to combine. On the days when the stomach is on the back of the hotel, the car may stand unused and it is not needed, while on the days of the trips it is nice to have the freedom to stop where you want and not depend on anyone. Both car rentals and drivers are relatively inexpensive in Mauritius compared to similar destinations.

A beach that is always highly recommended to visit is LE MORNE, turquoise and blue water, a beautiful peak that you can climb.

The ideal hotel on this strip is the JW MARRIOTT which is a fine 5 star hotel with excellent food. We have great deals all year round and special discounts. This is the resort that our travelers are most satisfied with in Mauritius.

This strip is relatively protected from winds all year round. The LE MORNE area is often more expensive than other areas on the island, but it is recommended to combine it, even for a few nights.

LUX LE MORNE – usually less recommended.

The RIU chain has two hotels in the southern part of the beach, they are all inclusive and recently renovated but for part of the year the wind blows on this beach. RIU PALACE for adults only. RIU TURQUOISE also for children. We always have a discount for them too.

The hotel DINAROBIN BEACHCOMBERS is rated very high, at a discount through us, and on a beautiful beach, but the rooms are outdated.

Next to it is PARADIS BEACHCOMBERS which was recently renovated and is on a beautiful beach but sometimes travelers say it is not worth its price. Either way we will be happy to discount it for you.

Nearby attractions are the colored sands, dolphin cruises, whale cruises, omegas, horse riding, the zoo and the CASELA amusement park

In the south of the island of Mauritius, this is our opinion on the hotels:

The SHANTI MAURICE hotel is excellent for high budget travelers who want villas with pools and rooms facing the sea. Our travelers commented that the food is expensive and that the staff is a bit tired, but many recommend it and it is especially suitable for couples with 2 small children. The hotel with a discount through us.

Not far from it is the Tamassa Bel Ombre. It is not expensive but not luxurious at all and lacks charm.

In the south of Mauritius there are two resorts of the prestigious HERITAGE chain, Heritage Le Telfair suitable for families. and the all-inclusive Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort.

The FLIC N FLAC beach strip is in our opinion less recommended because it is busy and central with a lot of people and less charm and does not have a good selection of highly rated hotels.

In ALBION in the west of the island there is a hotel of the Club Med chain (5 kiloshons). In our opinion it is outdated and its beach is rocky and not ideal.

Few travelers include Port Louis, the capital (PORT LOUIS) because it is less interesting.

In the northwest of the island, our travelers really like the WESTIN TURTLE BAY . Although its beach is not one of the best on the island, the value for the price is excellent, the rooms are beautiful and spacious, the service and food are excellent and it is relatively close to attractions and nightlife.

Most of the year the wind blows from the east, so the WESTIN is ideal since it is in a sheltered bay on the west side of the island. We always have special offers and discounts for WESTIN!

The prestigious Constance chain has a boutique hotel on TROU AUX beach which is perhaps the most beautiful on the island called CONSTANCE SAKOA BOUTIK .

Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Resort is on a spectacular beach. Travelers love it although we have had complaints about the service there and the rooms are a bit dated.

The Club Med Pointe aux Canonniers hotel is on a nice beach and is all inclusive but only suitable with children. It is 4 kilos and not 5 like their other branch in Mauritius. In our opinion, it is less suitable for couples.

In the GRAND BAIE area There is the Royal Palm Beachcomber Luxury which is one of the best resorts on the island and is rated very highly. Check with us for discounts!

East Mauritius is more exposed to winds, especially between June and October, but the beaches are beautiful in this area and there is a selection of good 5-star hotels.

Constance Prince Maurice Resort Located on a beautiful beach relatively protected from winds on the eastern side. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. It is rated very high due to the uncompromising quality of the CONSTANCE chain.

In East Mauritius Constance Belle Mare Plage is also recommended, especially for families, although its beach is exposed to winds.

The Constance chain has another resort in the east of the island called C Mauritius – All Inclusive.

One of the most loved hotels in East Mauritius is the Shangri-La Le Touessrok. Especially suitable for couples, but also for families and travelers who really like it. Renovation of the hotel will be completed in October 2024. Check with us about hotel discounts!

In Mauritius, an additional driver is included in the car rental price.

In Mauritius, a young driver  Up to the age of 23 is charged a supplement for each rental day (as of 2024).

If the driver has a license for less than 3 years , a new driver’s cost will be added, identical to the young driver’s cost.

If you want the car to come to you at the hotel , it is possible, but there is a cost.

You must have a credit card with a free limit in advance. We recommend having two credit cards just in case.  

An international driver’s license is required in some destinations, but in some countries  An Israeli license is enough, as long as it is also in English. 

In Mauritius there is no obligation to fill up with fuel when returning the vehicle, but if you choose to fill up, do so at the airport. The fuel filling fee is about NIS 10 and the fuel price is controlled and uniform.

There is no need to clean the vehicle before returning it, but if exceptional cleaning is needed for the vehicle (such as for the upholstery), the rental company will charge you for the cleaning. However, it is important to leave it clean both out of courtesy and because when you go over the vehicle you find losses.
